Slipknot é uma banda de metal norte-americana formada em Des Moines, Iowa. É constituída por nove membros, sendo eles actualmente Sid Wilson, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, Chris Fehn, James Root, Craig Jones, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson e Corey Taylor. O alinhamento da banda mantém-se inalterado desde 1999. Cada membro usa uma máscara distinta.

Os Slipknot formaram-se em 1995 e sofreram várias mudanças de alinhamento após o lançamento do disco independente Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. em 1996. O seu álbum homónimo de estreia foi lançado em 1999, tendo sido sucedido por Iowa em 2001 e Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) em 2004. A 25 de Agosto de 2008, a banda lançou o seu quarto álbum de estúdio, All Hope Is Gone, que se estreou em 1º lugar na tabela norte-americana Billboard 200. A banda lançou também três DVDs incluindo Disasterpieces em 2002, que foi certificado com quádrupla platina nos Estados Unidos.

Arch Enemy é uma banda sueca de death metal melódico com influências de thrash metal, formada em 1995. Tem uma distinção das outras bandas do gênero, por ter uma mulher como vocalista, o que é muito raro nas bandas de death metal, já que o vocal é gutural.

Os Arch Enemy são uma das principais bandas deste subgénero do heavy metal que se convencionou chamar de 'death metal melódico', em virtude principalmente de elementos melódicos provenientes do heavy metal tradicional, do power metal, do heavy rock e até mesmo do hard rock dos anos 70 e 80. Neste sentido, uma das características principais do Arch Enemy são os riffs de guitarra compostos por Michael Amott, que são ao mesmo tempo pesados e melódicos.

O fato dos Arch Enemy serem uma das melhores bandas deste estilo não é por acaso, afinal de contas, o fundador e líder dos Arch Enemy, Michael Amott, era um dos integrantes dos Carcass quando do lançamento do aclamado álbum Heartwork, de 1993, considerado o precursor do que seria mais tarde chamado de death metal melódico.

Michael Amott também já foi integrante das bandas Carnage e Candlemass, e, actualmente, além dos Arch Enemy, ele tem uma banda paralela chamada Spiritual Beggars, cujo som é baseado nas bandas de heavy rock dos anos 70, principalmente Deep Purple, Mountain e Captain Beyond; as influências de Black Sabbath da fase de meados e final dos anos 70 também são latentes nos álbuns do Spiritual Beggars.

Eu ainda não ouvi hoopsy, mas dos Green Day só gostei do albúm Dookie de 1994, na mesma época em que os Offspring lançaram o Smash. O album Insomniac ainda se ouve, mas depois disso... Eles mudaram bastante.

Claro, é apenas a minha opinião

Kittie é uma banda de nu metal canadense de London (Ontário). Foi formada em 1996. A banda atingiu o sucesso em 1999, quando a faixa "Brackish" se tornou num hit.

A banda também apoiou durante o início da década de 2000, os Slipknot em tournée pelo Reino Unido, abrindo-lhes vários concertos e aumentando assim a popularidade.
